Prabhas Mondal, accused in the Baruipur rape and murder case, was killed in a police encounter. His wife stated she believed he was capable of such a crime due to past abuse. Police reported Mondal snatched a pistol and fired during a crime scene reconstruction. The victim was gang-raped and alive when thrown into a pond. Mondal’s mother refused to accept his body, stating he deserved it.
