Mapusa: Two Afghan nationals were arrested in two separate incidents at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, on Wednesday for allegedly staying in India illegally and obtaining Indian passports using forged documents.In the first case, a 29-year-old Afghan national, Manish alias Kanish, was intercepted at the immigration counter on Wednesday evening. The arrest followed a complaint filed by Bureau of Immigration officer Ajaykumar Jivane. Police said the accused misrepresented his identity as “Manish Singh” and used falsified documents to obtain an Indian passport.A case has been filed against him for cheating and forgery under the BNS, along with provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act. PSI Viraj Sawant is investigating the case.In the second incident, Afghan national Pritash alias Kashish (25) was detained at the arrivals counter. According to a complaint by Jivane, police arrested Kashish. Police said that he had been living in India without valid travel documents and had assumed the identity of “Pritash Singh” to procure an Indian passport.Police registered a separate case under relevant BNS sections related to cheating, forgery and harbouring, along with the sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
