Trichy International Airport’s new Air Traffic Control tower, boosted to 53m for enhanced runway visibility, is slated for operation in 2027. Costing Rs 60 crore, its construction faced a halt but will now be expedited. Meanwhile, the old terminal building is being considered for repurposing into cargo, MRO, or commercial facilities, as aircraft movements have significantly surged.
