Sony is killing the physical PlayStation disc. From January 2028, every new game, third-party titles included, goes digital-only, though boxes with download codes will still sell in stores. It follows GTA 6’s disc-free launch and the driveless PS5 Pro, with digital already near 80% of Sony’s sales. Collectors and resellers lose out, and whether the PS6 gets a disc drive is still unconfirmed.
