Tamil literary legend Poomani, a Sahitya Akademi Award winner, passed away at seventy-nine. His novel ‘Vekkai’ was adapted into the successful film ‘Asuran’, reaching a wider audience. Poomani also directed the movie ‘Karuvelam Pookkal’ for the NFDC. His authentic narratives depicted the lives and sufferings of common people.
