A remarkably preserved Roman shipwreck, the Ses Fontanelles, has been recovered off Mallorca after meticulous excavations. Discovered in 2019, this 4th-century AD merchant vessel offers unprecedented insights into Roman shipbuilding, trade routes, and daily life at sea. Hundreds of artifacts, including amphorae and ropes, survived due to protective underwater sediment, promising to illuminate a pivotal era of the Roman Empire.
