A 4K restored version of Dev Benegal’s 1994 film “English, August” will premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival’s Classics lineup. This marks the Film Heritage Foundation’s third consecutive selection. The film, based on Upamanyu Chatterjee’s novel, chronicles a young civil servant’s adjustment to small-town life and is a landmark of Indian independent cinema.
