LeBron James is a free agent for the first time in eight years after informing the Los Angeles Lakers he will play elsewhere in 2026-27. The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat remain frontrunners, but the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets and, most recently, the Philadelphia 76ers have all expressed interest. The 76ers’ pursuit gained steam after they traded for Jaylen Brown, giving James a potential path to a stacked roster alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
