For years, rumours have circulated that actor Govinda was the original choice to play Tara Singh in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha before the role eventually went to Sunny Deol. Director Anil Sharma has now put those speculations to rest, saying the film was always conceived with Sunny Deol in mind.
