Two members of Irani gang held after encounter with police in Delhi

NEW DELHI: (Jul 19) Two members of the Irani gang, who had travelled to Delhi from Bhopal to commit robberies, were apprehended following a brief exchange of fire on Saturday, an official said.

The accused, identified as Murtaza Ali alias Damar (38) and Siraj Ali (40), suffered bullet injuries to their left legs during the shootout and were taken to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment, the official added.

A trap was laid near the Meerut Expressway T-point, opposite Indraprastha Park, after police received specific input about the movement of the accused, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Aishwarya Sharma said.
